Beam News
A big week for Beam with the voting for the first two BIPs coming to a conclusion on Friday. On Sundays Beam Space some alpha was dropped in that of Beam Name Service. Let us dive in!
Beam Name Service
The idea behind the Beam Name service, BNS, is similar to that of the Ethereum counterpart ENS. For those unfamiliar, this allows users to have a more human friendly address that they can easily use. One crucial difference being the much needed privacy that comes with Beam! This will be a key component in the Beam ecosystem, and for this we are inviting the community to share their thoughts and feedback on the forum below.
Beam Name Service Initial Spec
This Beam Name Service will lay the foundations for the likes of identity management, and a Beam wallet address book, so jump in and let us know your thoughts!
BIP 1 and BIP 2
Last week wrapped up the voting for both BIP 1 and BIP 2, both pertaining to the Beam Confidential Assets.
BIP 1 — Reduce CA minting cost
BIP 1 was to decide the new amount for the Beam CA issuance cost. Voting concluded, with the community voting for the new cost to issue Beam Confidential Assets being 10 Beam.
BIP 2 — Directing CA mint fee to miners
BIP 2 was to decide if the CA fee should go to miners, or remain as it currently is with the Beam locked in order to issue the asset. Voting concluded with the community voting to keep the current structure.
