The next Beam hard fork is on the horizon! So what better time to take a look at what it brings to Beam, and what powers the 7.0 release yields. We will cover all this, along with some Beam Forum insights, the latest from the community, and all the freshest updates on Beam.

Hard Fork + 7.0

With the hard fork coming in hot at block 1,820,000 the Beam team is all go! The fork is expected to take place around the end of the month, so it is prime time to upgrade your desktop wallets!

Download 7.0 for Desktop now!

This release brings all users up to date with the latest Beam offerings, and will prepare for and through the fork! After block 1,820,000 Beamers will need to be on release 7+ to send and receive Beam, and get involved in the Dapps that are gearing up for launch. For those on mobile, a release will come in the near future, so stay tuned!

For Beam Miners there is addition alterations with the coming fork. You can bring yourselves up to date with the linked documentation.

Fork Highlights:

IPFS Integration: making it easier & cheaper to store large data such as NFTs, reducing blockchain clutter and making Beam more efficient.
HFTX: High-Frequency Transactions will enable Beam Wallets to view the mempool by communicating directly with the node API. This will reduce chances of front running and sandwich attacks.

Decentralized DApp Store: DApps on Beam are becoming more censorship-resistant. Install DApps locally onto your Beam Wallet by downloading from your favourite developers. These DApps never go offline and cannot be altered.

Groovy Gluon 7.0 Highlights:

Hard fork support!
Clearer notifications/errors/confirmations for users
IPFS integration - Supporting Documentation
Added support of HFTX
Ability to recover on web wallet from a mobile recovery file
Added Drag and Drop for the DApp store page
Added the ability for Dapp publishers to link to their social media accounts

Dapp Net

The community voted, and the new testing ground for the latest in Beam Dapps shall be known as the Dapp Net. This will allow for developerss to easily deploy and test their latest creations. A few that are rumored to be coming soon to the Dapp Net prior to their main net debuts:

BeamX Dao:
The be all and end all for onchain governance with privacy at its heart. Once the Dapp net launches, expect this to be their soon after!

NFT V2:
The next iteration of the Beam Marketplace is gearing up for launch. Many a feature add is coming, so stay tuned for its Dapp Net testing phase. More on the coming V2 launch will be shared later this week!

Stablecoin:
The team set to launch the first privacy coin on Beam is gearing up and preparing themselves for their launch, and integral part of which will be Dapp Net deployment, and community involvement in the testing.

Forum

Roadmap:

Roadmap was presented a few weeks back and feedback sought from the community. It has been met with positive feedback, and as such will be officially published in the near future!

Beam Anonymous Name Service (BNS):

Shout out to Exchange for the BANS name suggestion. A touch of provocation, a dash of controversy, and a name packing a punch. Perfect for your dot beam addresses.

The feedback on the forum was taken in and some proposed spec updates presented. This includes:

Changes in the pricing
Updates on registration and renewal
Info on (lack of) premium list
Answers to open questions
Insights on the launch

KILLER DAPPS :

A few cool examples an ideas for killer Dapps on Beam. Head on over and share any ideas you have!
