Beam News
A lot to cover this week in the world of Beam, from the launch of the BeamX DAO Voting on mainnet, some insights on the NFT Marketplace V2, and some words and update re the recent Hard Fork. Let’s jump in!
BeamX DAO Voting
The BeamX DAO Voting Dapp is now live on the mainnet! One of many massive steps for Beam this year, and an exciting time for the ecosystem. The private voting Dapp will be an integral part of governance for Beam, with the aim to take the offerings to the wider crypto space.
To get the ball rolling and get a feel for the governance structure and voting procedures, some proposals will be up in the next epoch for the community to get familiar with.
As a part of the contract setup, the Contract Admin is able to change the contracts on chain. This however comes with a 12 hour delay for the contract changes to take place. This allows time for the changes to be noticed and reviewed by the community.

NFT Marketplace V2
The next instalment of the Beam NFT Marketplace will be released in the next week or so. This V2 will bring with it a great next step in the world of Confidential NFTs. The version will come equipped with the ability to self mint NFTs, utilising the IPFS integration that came with the Hard Fork. There will be a limit on the file sizes for IPFS uploads, which will be 0.5mb.
Another key component will be a centralised service to better enable filtering, caching, and more. This will allow the marketplace to be faster to load, and provide an overall better user experience for Beamers.
Hard fork
As was brought up in the community to the team shortly after the Hard Fork, there was an issue issuing Confidential Assets. As per BIP-1 the Beam required to create a CA was scheduled to reduce from 3000 $BEAM to 10 $BEAM after the Hard Fork. It was found that this change did not in fact go into effect with the latest Hard Fork. This is simply a human error, and miscommunication, for which the team is sorry. We will take this in our stride, and work on ways to avoid similar situations moving forward.
As a change to the cost of issuing a CA requires a Hard Fork this will take a little time to come into effect. Rather than rushing out a Hard Fork, we will aim to have it around the time of the bridge release, and add any further network improvements that can be made at that time. For this reason the Hard Fork block height will be announced in the future, so stay tuned!
Beam Space
The last week we took a break from the Beam Space, as the team was a little tied up! We will however be back in full force come this Sunday, so be sure to join us, catch up on the latest news, and jump into the discussions.
