Beam News
A lot on the cards for Beam with the Hard Fork set for later this month, BANS launch coming in the next week(s), and the first DeFi applications gearing up to join the NFT Marketplace on mainnet. Let’s go!
Hard Fork!
Later this month Beam will have a Hard Fork to bring the chain up to speed, provide network upgrades, and implement BIP 1 bringing the cost of Confidential Asset issuance to 10 $BEAM. The block height is set!…
Beam Hard Fork at Block 1,920,000
This equates to around the end of August, and as such the next wallet version to support the Hard Fork will be released in the very near future.
All changes have been implemented, and it is currently in testing. Speaking of which, the relevant testnet Hard Forks will be at 1,780,000 for the Testnet, and 334,000 for DAPP Net.
Stay tuned for the wallet releases, and prepare for the upgrade!
Research and Development
Beam continues to explore ways to add to the ecosystem and improve the ease at which outside developers can build with and on Beam. This is especially relevant as the DeFi ecosystem is set to go full force later this year. One such endeavour is support for Beam Smart Contract Shaders in Rust.
This is an ongoing effort and presents a huge step forward for the Beam ecosystem!
A big shoutout to the Beam devs as they continue to push forward in strengthening the Beam code and working on a plethora of base layer improvements and decentralised applications. It is great to see this is not going unnoticed!
BANS
The launch of BANS was scheduled for last week but given the upcoming Hard Fork it made sense to delay it momentarily to avoid pushing out two wallet releases in close succession. Fear not though, with the Hard Fork happening at the end of the month BANS is set to launch in the next couple of weeks. The DAPP has now been deployed to both the DAPP Net and Test Net.
If you haven’t already we strongly recommend having a play around with BANS on the DAPP Net. Get familiar before launch to prepare yourselves to pull the trigger on your most desired dot Beam addresses.
A user guide covering the ins and outs of the BANS Dapp will be available in the coming days. Stay tuned!
