Beam News
A huge first month to 2022 for Beam! We saw the Phase I Beam Staking campaign coming to a completion, and momentum is building for the future of private NFTs coming in the V2 of the in-wallet NFT gallery. This is but a small taste of what is coming for 2022 for Beam, as the Beam Confidential DeFi rollout is all set to start ramping up! An absolutely enormous part of this, is of course Governance.
Beam Governance!
With the the first phase of distribution of BeamX governance token having completed, the stage is set to now start to formalise this decentralisation with the Beam DAO Core contracts and the sexy interface that goes with it!
As with any governance token, for it to be effective requires an easy to understand, interpret, and engage with application. A lot of work has been going into such from both the dev and product teams, to ensure that we Beamers can make the most of the decentralisation taking place.
These screens are for now concepts of the soon to be deployed Voting Dapp. This will enable the Beam community to engage and influence the Beam ecosystem as a whole, including various DeFi application ideations and parameters.
This represents a great shift for Beam, and an important on for all those in the ecosystem. As the ecosystem expands and evolves the Beam DAO voting will play an ever more important role! If you haven’t already, check out the Beam Forum for the initial proposal for establishing the DAO governance structure and procedures!

EVM Compatibility
The Beam Virtual Machine (BVM for short) offers many benefits over various alternatives including the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine), from zero fees on failed transactions, to WASM powered efficiencies, and of course the privacy we know and love. The BVM allows the execution of contracts that are written in C++, Rust, Go and other languages that are compilable to WASM (WebAssembly). This enables easy integration with standard html and js applications, along with the Beam Web Wallet. WASM is a well known and tested technology, common both inside and outside of crypto due to the benefits it offers.
This being said, there are a number of benefits in Beam adopting an EVM compatibility solution, namely the developer network effect it has established, and the abundant tooling available. For this reason we continue to research and explore the ways in which we can optimally harness EVM compatibility, whilst maintaining the benefits of the native BVM.
Overall, this will provide crypto native developers an easy path for Beam deployments, acting as a great segue to WASM based BVM protocols.
