Beam News!
A busy week for Beam with the latest desktop wallet releasing to mainnet, and much more. Let’s check it out!
Groovy Gluon 7.2.13686
The latest Beam release is here bringing with it a couple of key updates. The first of which is that of the fixes to running the Beam Node in local testing mode. This fix allows users to be better able to test the applications they are building on Beam. The second allows users to toggle on and off Confidential Assets. This allows users to select those they want to see in their wallets, and turn those off they do not want to show.
Development
Work continues on gearing the bridges up for release. These will enable users to bridge assets from the Ethereum ecosystem to Beam, allowing them to be transferred and traded in confidentiality, and be used with Dapps running on top of Beam.
The DEX is also being worked on, and is currently undergoing some redesign. Once released, the DEX will allow users to trade to and from liquidity pools, in a similar fashion to that of Uniswap.
Both will be set for launch in the near future. When they hit the DAppnet, be sure to jump in, have a play around, and report any bugs you find or feedback you have.
Stay tuned!
Beam Feature Requests
Just last month the Beam Feature Requests was launched as a way to allow users and developers to freely pitch new ideas and features, all aimed at improving Beam and the ecosystem.
We have had a great number of BFRs from the community already. The community has been actively engaged in discussions on what features are needed and what improvements can be made, and we love to see it!
The team has already completed several Feature Requests and all those that have progressed past the initial discussion phase can be found on the Beam Github Feature Request page. This provides a great a great overview of the ongoing efforts relating to the BFRs. For the nitty gritty and to partake in the discussions, be sure to head to the Beam Forum FR page.
Some more feature requests are on the way, including a dedicated DApp for minting new confidential assets, and adding the ability for NFT artists to airdrop confidential assets to collectors. All features are first pushed to the Beam DAppnet for testing before being brought live on Beam Wallet.
Beam Space
The last Beam Space we covered some great questions presented by the community. A lot of interesting thoughts were shared, and some the space contains some great info to unpack. If you haven’t already, check it out!
