Beam News!
After a bit of a break over the holiday season, the Beam team is back on it, with a lot on the cards for 2023! We kicked off the year with our 4th Brithday, and an update on what is to be expected for the year ahead. Let’s dive in!
Beam is 4!
We have come a huge way since the launch of Beam, with much of what has been build to support the ecosystem all but unimaginable at that time. From increased privacy through Lelantus-MW, to Smart Contracts enabling NFTs, On-Chain Governance and many more Dapps. It has been an incredibly journey thus far and we thank you all for the continued support. This year is going to be epic, and one the team is really looking forward to!
2023 Roadmap!
With the Beam Birthday came some updates to the roadmap for the next year. Be sure to check out the full write up here. The main features include:
Q1 2023
Bridges release
AMM DEX release
HW Wallet Support (Ledger Nano S & Nano S Plus)
Beam Messenger DApp in Beam Wallet
Q2 2023
Hard Fork 8.0
EVM support
Q3 2023
Sidechains support
Launching EVM DApps on Beam chain
Hardware Wallet Update
The Hardware wallets continue with the Nano s plus working lightning-fast for Beam transactions. Offering a great experience, and a huge coming addition to the Beam ecosystem.
The predecessor, the Nano s, incredibly harsh limitations and although slow (takes ~2 minutes to make the inputs, outputs, and signature required for the transaction), it is working. An animated Computing indicator has been added, so users know the device is still generating what is needed for the transaction and not hung.
Despite the limitations coming with the older Nano s we have succeeded to make it work with all of our functionality, including MW and Lelantus transactions, with arbitrary asset types. This was not at all trivial (to say the least).
But nevertheless it works!
There will be Nano s specific code that will bring the compute times down, but given the limitations this will never be up to speed with the newer models. For this reason we will recommend Beamers use the Nano s plus model and above.
