Why are transparent blockchains dangerous?
Which Beam Wallet address should I select for CEX withdrawals?
On Beam, when sending tokens, the sender may choose the type of transaction they wish to conduct.
The SBBS address are for online transactions. Online transactions are considered “interactive” transactions, because the receiver wallet must be online within a 12 hour window of the transaction, in order for it to complete.
The regular address allows for both online and offline crypto transactions on the Beam blockchain. Similar to any Bitcoin or Ethereum transaction. The receiver doesn’t need to do anything, the tokens will arrive in their Beam Wallet.
This may seem slightly confusing at first, but this is an additional protective measure Beam offers! The SBBS protocol requires both wallets to be online within a 12-hour window, so if you accidentally entered a wrong address, the withdrawal will fail.
For CEXs withdrawals, use only the SBBS address to withdraw funds to your Beam Wallet.
Review our write-up for a complete overview on the different transaction types on Beam.
