The time for some hard forking is here, the DAPP NET has launched, and the age of confidential DeFi is upon us!
Let’s dive in!
Hardfork
The Beam Hard Fork takes place this week at block height 1,820,000, which is expected to take place on the 24th. To prepare for the hard fork, all you have to do is:

Download for Android!
Download for iOS!
This release is required to access and send funds after block 1,820,000. If you are running any wallet pre the 7.0 release you will need to update for the coming hard fork.
For Beam Miners there is additional alterations with the coming fork. You can bring yourselves up to date with the linked documentation.
DAPP NET
The DAPP NET is now live!
The place for Beam Dapp testing, for developers to tweak their latest creations, and for Beamers to squash bugs! The Dapp Net offers an excellent place for all of this, and is now live. Check out last weeks newsletter for an overview, and Romanov’s Twitter thread below for some alpha!
Research and Development
With the Dapp Net live, hard fork in a matter of days, and Dapps setting up to hit mainnet, time to talk about a key component of confidential DeFi. Oracles.
Many of the financial Dapps require Oracles to be their ‘source of truth’, bringing off-chain data or price feeds on-chain, enabling them to be used in conjunction with smart contracts. For this we have the BeamX Network Oracle.
As is the nature of oracles, the maintenance and accuracy needs to be on point. For this reason, the Beam Foundation will operate the BeamX Network Oracle as a public good, with it being free to use.
