Beam Biweekly—Mar 2025 Ed. #2
Covers all the developments in the Beam ecosystem from March 17th - 31st 2025.
Greetings Beamers
We’re planning to ship two significant updates to Beam in 2025 — the Beam Bridge to Arbitrum and the Beam Layer-2 “Beam Warp”.
Bridge to Arbitrum
This will be our second EVM-compatible Bridge after the release of Ethereum Bridge in 2023, showcasing the seamless interoperability between the Beam’s private-by-default DeFi and the colossal EVM-compatible ecosystem.
Another planned release is the Beam Bridge SDK, which will allow Web3 developers to build and run bridges to any EVM-compatible chains like Solana, Binance Smart Chain, and Base.
These developments will position Beam as the de-facto privacy layer for the greater Web3 ecosystem.
Beam Layer-2 “Beam Warp”
Beam Warp is a proof-of-stake (PoS) Layer-2 for Beam blockchain. Some details:
Privacy is fully preserved
~1sec transaction finality
Native L1 <> L2 bridge protected by validators
$BEAMX will be used for staking and block rewards (for a limited time only after being voted on in a DAO proposal)
$BEAM will be the gas token on L2
Tokens moved from Beam L1 will preserve their Asset IDs
New tokens created on L2 will be assigned Asset IDs in the higher range, to negate collisions and confusion.
Beam Warp is designed to power blazing-fast transaction speeds and unlock greater scalability, bringing Beam into a state of readiness for mainstream adoption, as more Bridges start to come into play, bringing greater liquidity and users to the Beam blockchain. We’ll comprehensively cover all the details in a standalone article.
